The Jasper County Board of Supervisors have unanimously granted county department heads the ability to spend more money, without having to get their approval. County Board of Supervisors Chairperson Brandon Talsma says the spending limit for County Engineer Mike Frietsch was changed a couple of years ago, while the other department heads have had the same limit for well over a decade.

“Spending limits of the department heads have not been touched since 2010. We took separate action on Mike, I believe, two years ago. So this is increasing the limits and just mentioning again that Mike’s limit is $30,000 and all other department heads have the authority to spend up to $5,000 without having to put something on the Board of Supervisors agenda for approval.”

Department heads in Jasper County have been operating with a $2,000 spending limit, while the prior change for the County Engineer was from $10,000.
