It was another night showcasing the depth and talent of the powerhouse Pella Cross Country teams, as the #1 girls and #2 boys swept up the district meet at Central College on their way to next week’s state meet.
The Dutch girls pitched a perfect score, placing the first five athletes in the top five, with all seven in top 12 earning All-District honors. The three-time defending state champions claimed their fourth consecutive state qualifying meet title behind Marissa Ferebee’s third individual crown in a row. Pella has qualified to the girls state race for the 19th time in the past 20 seasons.
Pella’s boys were dominating as well, with their top five placing in the top 12, earning their sixth consecutive district championship. Wednesday marked Canaan Dunham’s third individual state qualifying meet title, leading the Dutch back to Fort Dodge for the 20th time in the past 21 seasons.
Both teams will compete for state titles on Friday, October 31st at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
