The addition of the new clubhouse at Westwood Golf Course is expected to have a positive impact on the City of Newton’s Golf Fund. Newton Community Development Director Erin Chambers says golf revenue increased from $593,500 last year, to $726,500 this year. But she adds the Golf Fund Balance has actually shrunk, due to expenses related to the new clubhouse.

“Things like buying TV’s and different small purchase items to outfit our clubhouse. But we anticipate that coming to an end, and replenishing that Golf Fund in the coming years.”

Chambers says starting January 5th, the new clubhouse will be home to a Golf Simulator League. She also notes a proposal for new golf fees will be coming before the Newton City Council next month.
