The Norwalk football program finished the 2025 season 5-4 overall and 3-2 in Class 5A District 1 play, which was good for third in the district behind Waukee Northwest and Southeast Polk, who are both playing in the first round of the 5A playoffs this week. Several Warriors emerged as statistical standouts across the district and state, and even etched new numbers in the Norwalk record books.

Senior receiver Eli Robbins, who accepted a preferred walk-on position at the University of Iowa, demolished the Norwalk record boards this season. He finishes his high school career as Norwalk’s all-time leader in career receiving yards (2,229), career receiving touchdowns (26), and career receptions (137). For the 2025 regular season, Robbins led Class 5A in receptions (62), interception return yards (112), and punt return yards (242). He also had the longest punt return for a touchdown in the class, returning a punt for 94 yards in the Warriors’ Week Six homecoming win over Des Moines East. Robbins ranked in the class’ top five in five other stat categories this season, which includes a third-place finish in all-purpose yards with 1,345.

Senior quarterback James Hatlevig also occupies several spots on the Class 5A regular season leaderboard, ranking second in passing completions (156) and fourth in both passing yards (1,833) and passing touchdowns (21).

Sophomore kicker Greer Langel joined Eli Robbins on the Norwalk record boards, kicking the longest field goal in school history. In Norwalk’s Week Five loss to Southeast Polk, Langel put one through the uprights from 52 yards away. That field goal was also the longest of the season for Class 5A. In addition to having the class’s longest field goal, Langel ranked fourth in 5A in total kickoff yards with 2,530.

The final Warrior on the 5A leaderboard this season was junior Victor Esparza, who had an impactful season on both sides of the football, finishing second on the team in rushing yards and third in tackles. He led Class 5A in blocked kicks this season with four.

Collectively, these four athletes occupy 17 top-five spots on the 2025 Class 5A regular-season football statistics leaderboard.
