The Pleasantville football team will travel to Hudson tonight for a Class 1A second round playoff matchup.

The Trojans are 8-1 this season and coming off a first round playoff win over Durant at home last week. The first round playoff win was a significant hurdle overcome by Pleasantville as they have been knocked out of the playoffs in the first round the last five years. The Trojans have now received a favorable second round draw as they will have a manageable matchup against a 5-4 Hudson team who they hold the advantage over in many statistical categories.

Pleasantville has been led in offense this year by junior quarterback Braylon Bingham who has thrown for 1,203 yards and 13 touchdowns and has rushed for 674 yards and six touchdowns. Also on the ground this season, Owen Rule and JJ Phillips have combined for over 900 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. Brayden Kennedy and Logan Roff have led the team in receiving yards as Kennedy has 451 yards and four touchdowns while Roff has 323 yards and four touchdowns. Ethan King has also been productive at the receiver position hauling in five touchdown receptions and has recorded 255 yards.

The Pirates have been a pass heavy team this season and sophomore quarterback Tade Roberts has thrown for 1,620 yards and 10 touchdowns. Hudson receivers Anderson Yoder and Owen Bell have combined for almost 1,100 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions.

Tonight’s playoff game in Hudson will start at 7:00 pm and the winner will face either Cascade or Iowa City Regina in the state quarterfinals.
