The Norwalk soccer teams swept Pella decisively in Little Hawkeye Conference action on Tuesday night. The Warrior boys won 6-0 on Pella’s home field while the Warrior girls prevailed 3-0 in Norwalk. The Norwalk boys track and field squad also competed, placing seventh at the Ankeny Centennial Jaguar Relays.
Boys Soccer wins 6-0
The No. 9 in Class 3A Norwalk boys soccer team scored five second-half goals to pull away from 10th-ranked Pella, 6-0. Eli Scavo led the offensive attack with two goals and two assists while Matt Lane had one goal and one assist. Also scoring for the Warriors were Tyden Eng, Jace Downing and Arian Krasniqi. Teegan Kralik and Nolan Fletcher both added an assist and Jacoby Robbins played 73 minutes at goalie in a combined shutout with Drew Newberg. Norwalk improved to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. They will host Ames on Thursday night at 7:45.
Girls Soccer wins 3-0
The No. 2 in Class 2A Norwalk girls soccer team improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the LHC with a 3-0 win over the 10th-rated Dutch. The Warriors scored all three of their goals in the second half, starting with a Tatum Miller penalty kick. Olivia Welch added the final two goals, including one on an Ella Seeley assist. Goalie Katie Liedtke earned the shutout with a few saves and important pick-ups along the way. Norwalk will host Ames on Thursday at 5:45.
Boys Track 7th at Centennial
The Norwalk boys track and field team tuned up for the Drake Relays by placing seventh with 39 points at the Jaguar Relays. The Warriors won a pair of relay events on the night. Jamison Giesemann, Ethan Winslow, Logan Atherton and Kaiden Kunze combined for a winning time of 1:29.71 in the 4×200. The 4×100 relay quartet of Xavier Bush, Winslow, Atherton and Kunze later placed first with a season-best time of 42.64. Norwalk also placed second in the distance medley relay. The Warriors have qualified several events for the Drake Relays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Des Moines.
