
Four PCM varsity athletic teams were in action Thursday.
The Mustang girls and boys track and field teams competed at Newton but the meet ended early due to a threat of severe weather. When the meet was called the PCM boys were sitting in sixth place as a team and the girls were tied for fifth. The PCM track and field teams will next compete on Monday at home.
The PCM girls golf team finished first at a quad hosted by EBF at Oskaloosa Golf. The Mustang girls shot 194 as a team at the nine-hole event that also featured Chariton and Davis County. PCM’s Kayla VanderLinden was the meet medalist with a 41 and Gretchen Uikermarkt finished as the meet runner-up with a 47. The PCM girls golf team will next compete on Monday at Chariton.
The PCM soccer team defeated Central Iowa United on the road in State Center in lopsided fashion 7-1. Dominic Witt had a remarkable game scoring five goals. Other scoring came from goals by Dylan Beyer and Keaton Johnson who had his first career varsity goal. Jax Strait also had four assists in the contest. The Mustang soccer team improves to 3-4-1 on the year and will be back in action on Monday at Chariton.
