While it is a week late, the Knoxville Raceway gets to ring in the new racing season with the World of Outlaws Nos Energy Drink Sprint Cars this weekend starting with tonight’s first night of the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash. Thursday the raceway held a practice night for any 410 driver including any Outlaw drivers to cut laps. 37 cars were in attendance and Michael Kofoid was unofficially fastest at :14.980.. Defending World of Outlaws Champion David Gravel comes in with a 46 point lead over Carson Macedo. Gravel tells KNIA/KRLS Sports winning last season was not easy, but qualifying well and running consistently will give a drive an edge.

Gravel: “really hard to do and the guys gave a good car that qualifies well and when you do that , it makes it easier to run up front.”

The last World of Outlaws event at the Knoxville Raceway was in June of last season. Gravel picked up a win on Friday and 2nd on Saturday. Live coverage is on KNIA starting with Live Track Side at 5:00 and Race Nights Live at 7:00.
