Norwalk competed in girls golf, boys tennis and girls and boys soccer on Thursday, finishing with three wins and one defeat.

Girls Golf wins at Oskaloosa

The Warrior girls golf team shot a season-best round of 331 at Edmundson Golf Course, placing first out of 14 teams in the Oskaloosa Invite. The Warriors won the meet by 33 strokes over second-place Pella, earning their fourth consecutive first-place performance.

Norwalk junior Evelyn Kinney earned individual medalist honors, shooting a 6-over-par round of 76. Addie Smith placed third with a 79, Hayden Clausen placed eighth with an 86 and Emma Audette scored a 90. The Warriors return to competition on Monday for the Turk Bowman Invite at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.

Boys Tennis falls 6-5

The Norwalk boys tennis team lost a 6-5 decision at Pella, suffering their third straight loss by the same margin. The Warriors won four out of six singles matches before going 1-5 in doubles play. Isaac Lors won the No. 2 singles match in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-5, 2-6 (10-6), while Ben Swim, Lane Juergens and Rohan Tiedt all won in straight sets. Swim and Tiedt picked up the Warriors’ lone doubles win, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. Norwalk is now 2-3 overall and 1-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference duals. They are competing in today’s Dennis Hoefle Invitational at Ankeny.

Girls Soccer Wins 3-0

Addy Wood and Olivia Welch combined for all three goals as the Norwalk girls soccer team defeated Ames 3-0 at Warrior Stadium. The No. 2 in Class 2A Warriors improved to 6-0 overall, including five shutouts. The 3A 13th-ranked Little Cyclones are now 4-1-1 overall. Welch scored the first Norwalk goal – assisted by Wood – and Welch assisted Wood for goal number two. Wood later capped the scoring with an untouched corner kick goal. The Warrior girls’ next match is Tuesday night vs. Ankeny.

Boys Soccer Wins 1-0

The No. 9 in Class 3A Norwalk boys soccer team improved to 5-3 overall with a 1-0 home win over Ames. The match was stopped with 24 minutes remaining due to lightning. Teegan Kralik scored the game’s only goal directly off a corner kick. The Warriors close out the week on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home match against Waukee.
