The Pleasantville girls track and field team broke the school record in the distance medley relay.
The relay consisting of Summer Isley, Amelia Latch, Ellie Heywood, and Carly Gripp broke the school record at Van Meter on Monday with a time of 4:20.81. This record was previously 4:25.01 and was held by the 1996 relay team of Cory Steckner, Jessica Aldrich, Tiffany Thornburg, and Mindy Graham. With this time, the Trojan DMR team is currently 2nd in 2A. Head Coach Eric Isley has even higher hopes for this relay after they broke the record as they head throughout the season.
“Each of them ran a great individual split to help this team come to that time. There was really good competition there during the race. We were out in front early, sat in second there for a little bit and just really competed well down the stretch. We were able to come away with a victory there, break the school record by quite a bit and put ourselves in a really good spot.”
The Pleasantville girls track and field team will next compete on Monday at PCM.
