The Central College cheerleading squad took fifth place at the NCAA Division III Spirit Rally category at the National Dance Alliance/National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals earlier this month.
Central finished with a score of 77.4750, while Alma College (Mich.) was the winner after recording a 92.8250. The Dutch improved tremendously in the final round increasing their score by nearly five points. After scoring 73.80 in the preliminary round, Central was awarded 78.70 in the finals.
Central just missed eclipsing the fourth-place team from Tufts University (Mass.), finishing .20 points behind in the finals. The Dutch scored higher than the Jumbos in almost every category but lost on skill incorporation due to the smaller size of Central’s team.
