
Dutch Secure Big Conference Softball Doubleheader Sweep
For the fourth time in five years, the Central College softball swept Coe College Saturday afternoon. Central (21-5, 4-2 ARC) beat Coe 6-2 in the opener and 8-4 in the second game.
Rebounding from a hitless doubleheader Thursday against Simpson, Rylee Dunkin recorded four hits to reach the 100-hits club. Three of those hits came in game two, where she also scored three runs. Dunkin had one of three triples for the Dutch on the day, while Ali Henry and Sarah Stufflebeam each also had one. Hannah Higgins had two hits and two RBIs in each contest. The Dutch offense totaled 20 hits on the day and scored in seven of a possible 12 innings, including notching one run in the first inning of both games to start with an early lead.
In the circle, Jadyn Huisman won her 10th game of the season in game one. She went the full 7.0 innings, scattering six hits and two walks. Both earned runs charged to her came on a seventh-inning home run. Peyton Levine was the winning pitcher in game two, surrendering four earned runs in 4.0 innings with no walks and eight hits. Ella Morse picked up a three-inning save, her second of the season.
The Dutch travel to Decorah today for a 2 pm doubleheader against Luther College.

Dutch Men Wrap Up Golf Regular Season
In a difficult field at the Forester Invitational hosted by Lake Forest College, the Central College men’s golf finished 16th on Saturday.
Playing on the Par-72 Prairie Course at the Countryside Golf Club in Illinois, Central carded a 312-310-622. Carter Yurgae was the top finisher for the Dutch, trying for 38th place in 74-77-151. Maison Brandt was Central’s No. 2 player in a tie for 49th place (77-76–153). Also in Central’s lineup were Blake Wynn in 69th place (80-78-156), Bautista Valeiras in 88th (81-81-162) and Lincoln Eighmy in 98th (84-84-168). Playing as an individual player, Crew Klingner finished tied for 57th after shooting 75-79-154.
Central now sets its sights on the American Rivers Conference Championships. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is Sunday, April 26 to Tuesday, April 28 at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines.

Coe Races Past Central Men’s Tennis Team
The Central College men’s tennis team suffered a 7-0 shutout loss at the hands of Coe College Saturday morning. Central (3-15, 2-3 ARC) came up empty against the No. 52 ranked Kohawks. Bodi Kortz came up short in a slugfest at No. 1 singles before falling 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy also played a tight match at No. 3 singles, losing 7-5, 6-4. Central plays three home American Rivers Conference matches next week, starting with Buena Vista University at 4 pm on Wednesday.
