The Pella Christian boys tennis team wrapped up their regular season on Thursday afternoon, falling 7-4 in a home match against Clarke.
The Eagles opened the match with two victories in doubles play, with Alex De Vries and Charlie Braafhart winning 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 at #4, and Leo Blommers and Liam Nieuwsma taking the #5 match 6-0, 6-2. Pella Christian also got a pair of wins in singles play, as Liam Zula won 6-0, 6-2 at #4 and Blake Gallaher won 6-3, 7-5 at #5. The Eagles also had two matches go to third-set tiebreakers, but came up short on being able to flip the overall result. Owen Verhoef fell 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 at #2 singles, while Luke Schreur and Ely Cadwell dropped their #3 doubles match 4-6, 7-5, 0-1.
The Pella Christian boys tennis team now begins postseason play on Saturday, competing at the Class 1A District Singles and Doubles Tournament at Pella’s Caldwell Park.
