After being ranked #8 in the first Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 1A rankings of the year Monday, the Pella Christian boys soccer team capped off the day with a 4-1 win over Central Iowa United.

The Eagles offense wasted little time seizing control of the contest, as Elias Keegan found Asher Edel on a breakaway to give Pella Christian a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute of the game. The Eagles continued to grow their advantage in the 35th minute, as a header by Keegan off a Ben Van Wyngarden corner kick was deflected by the goalie to Drew Van Wyngarden, who put the ball in the back of the net. Not satisfied there, Pella Christian added to their first half lead three minutes later, when Ben Van Wyngarden found Elias Keegan for a breakaway goal in the 38th minute. In the second half, Van Wyngarden nabbed yet another assist, crossing the ball across the box to Joel Pogany, who finished it off with the Eagles final goal in the 69th minute. Central Iowa United recorded their lone tally in the final five minutes of play, but Pella Christian prevailed to improve to 7-3 overall.

The Eagles have a quick turnaround, traveling to Oskaloosa tonight for a 5:30 pm match.
