If you are wondering what has happened to the Iowa State Savings Bank sign in downtown Knoxville, it’s been taken down for restoration. David Hoke, Executive Vice President for Marketing for the bank, tells KNIA/KRLS News that the sign has been shipped to Des Moines for the upgrade. The original ornate frame will be retained, and the electronics will be replaced with more energy efficient LED technology. Hoke says that his research into the history of the sign indicates that it was first installed in approximately 1972.
