Nearly 10% of the state has seen drought relief from the recent rains and are now classified in the least severe drought designation, moderate drought. Another 40% of the state is in the slightly worse severe drought designation, and 60% is in extreme drought. This weeks USDA Drought Monitor shows little change. We are still in an extreme drought, with a small portion in the southeast corner of the county in severe drought, although that area has grown slightly.
