One woman was uninjured after a boat she was on sank on the Des Moines River near Howell Station Campground Tuesday.

Authorities received a call about the incident shortly after 1:30 p.m., when deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office came to assist. Police say that the woman on the boat was able to swim safely to shore, and was assisted at the edge of the water by bystanders. Pella Ambulance was paged to the scene, but only as a precaution. The Iowa DNR will investigate the cause of the boat sinking.
