The two people involved in a murder-suicide in Prairie City have been identified.
Prairie City Police say Christopher Tetrick, 32, called 911 at 4:16 a.m. Sunday to tell officers he killed Harmon (Wes) Wright the III, 30.
Tetrick told dispatch he was going through a divorce and arrived at 405 North Orchard Street to find Wright in the bed of Tetrick’s estranged wife, and proceeded to shoot Wright several times.
Law enforcement officers arrived and found the homeowner at the scene, who indicated that they were not sure what happened.
Officers found Wright’s body with several gunshot wounds in the house. In the garage, Tetrick was found dead with a single gunshot wound. The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner performed autopsies, and the case has been ruled a murder-suicide.
Prairie City Police, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies assisted in the investigation.
