Both the Little and Lady Dutch baseball and softball teams fell in close ones on the road to Dallas Center-Grimes Monday. Pella’s baseball boys took a late lead after a tie game 2-2 after four, by going up by one run, only for the home-team Mustangs to score twice in the bottom of the 6th. Ryan Mace gave up three earned runs in 5 ⅓ innings, and went 3-for-3 at the plate. River Baker hit his first career home run as well. Pella is tabbed with the team’s seventh one-run loss of the season, falling to 8-15 overall. They host Winterset this evening for a non-conference tilt. The Lady Dutch softball team fell 2-1 to the Fillies, and are now 11-14, and they will join the boys in welcoming Grinnell to Pella High School Wednesday evening.
