
The Indianola softball team continued their winning streak with a pair of wins in a tournament Friday, taking down Ankeny Centennial 5-1 and Gilbert 12-0 in 5 innings. Against Centennial, the Indians jumped out to an early lead and pushed it to 5-0 before the Jaguars finally got a run in the bottom of the 7th. Diamond Mosley had three hits in the contest, Gracey May and Emily Chaplin each had a pair of hits, with Brooke Tucker coming in with a home run. In game two, the Indians had 6 players with multiple hits led by Gracey May with 3 hits, and Brooke Tucker hitting another home run and driving in 5 runs. Kate Kralik got both wins in the pitching circle, which puts the Indians at 29-4 on the season with an 18 game winning streak.
The Indianola baseball team also performed well Friday evening, hosting a doubleheader against Norwalk in Little Hawkeye Conference play. The Indians took an early game one lead on a sacrifice fly by Grady Haynes, but Norwalk quickly evened the score in the bottom of the 4th. The tie score didn’t last for long, as Joey Bylund hit an RBI single to take a lead the Indians wouldn’t relinquish in a 7-1 victory. Quinn Vesey had an RBI single in the contest, Haynes hit another RBI single in the 6th, and Gabe Zwanziger hit an RBI double to add insurance. In game two, both teams scored a run apiece in the 3rd with Tyce Johnson getting an RBI single. The game was tied going into the bottom of the 7th, when Johnson hit his second RBI single of the game, this time in walk-off fashion driving in Vesey. The sweep puts the indians at 15-12 on the season, and 12-5 in conference play, just a game behind Dallas Center-Grimes in the win column.
