The PCM Mustangs swept the Saydel Eagles in a girl boy basketball doubleheader Tuesday night with the Mustang girls getting the 67-21 dominating win and the boys winning 53-32. The PCM girls were once again led by senior Regan Freland and her 21 points but it was the play of Lilli Baird that stood out on the night as the junior hit six three’s on the night with four coming in the first half as she finished with 18 points. Freshman Paige Steenhoek would also see more playinging time throughout the game and added 11 points off the bench. PCM gets their first win of 2020 and moves to 5-8 on the year and will next take on South Hamilton in a makeup game on Friday.

In the boys contest, the outside shooting would prove too much for Saydel as five Mustangs would hit from behind the ark on the night as the Mustangs would control the game throughout leading 19-11 after one quarter, 36-19 at the half, 39-21 after three on their way to the 53-32 win. The Mustangs were led by senior Jason Stafford who finished with a game high 17 points. The third quarter stood out as it saw a lul in scoring by both teams as PCM would only manage three points the entire quarter with Saydel only scoring two points. PCM Head Coach Fred Lorensen tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his team needs to continue to try to get better offensively. Lorensen says his Mustangs do some things well offensively and some things not so well and they will just continue to be a work in progress. With the win PCM moves to 8-5 overall and will try to take down South Hamilton on Friday.
