PCM boys basketball Head Coach Fred Lorensen has a tendency to utilize his starting five for the majority of a game, and at times his bench will see minimal action. Despite this, he has high praise for the first player that often sees action first when he makes a substitution.

Mustangs’ Senior Sage Burns has not been the most productive player, averaging less than 2.5 points per game, but his presence on the other side of the ball has his coach very pleased. Add in sophomore Augie Stock, and Lorensen feels that his seven man rotation is a lineup that can go up against anyone in the Heart of Iowa Conference.

“Sage Burns is maybe our best defensive player, a great help defender. Just a smart kid, can shoot the ball really well. I’m just really proud of his efforts as well. If we can go deeper than seven sometime, that’d be great, but we think those seven kids can do a really good job for us.”

The Mustangs will be back in action Friday as they host Nevada starting at 6:30.
