A new era in Melcher-Dallas Boys Basketball starts this season as John Suntken takes over for longtime coach Jim Wells, who retired after last season. Suntken is no stranger to Melcher-Dallas sports as he was the girls basketball coach in the past and is the current boys track and field coach and serves as an elementary principal in the district. Suntken tells KNIA Sports his first boys squad will be short on experience, but that will not stop them from competing in every game.

Suntken: “We lost basically our starting line except Owen, so we have several new guys we’re looking at, but they’re going to show up and be competitive.”

The top three scorers graduated last season and Owen Suntken is the leading returning scorer at 7.7 points per game. Melcher-Dallas will get the season underway at Pleasantville on November 30th, that game can be heard live on kniakrls.com KRLS3 starting at 6:15.
