Shelly DeRuiter with the soon opening Restoration Place in Pella tells KNIA/KRLS that we all need balance, and they will use physical therapy from a postural restoration philosophy to assist clients in finding that balance. She says that often an unknown problem is what will create or cause pain in another area. She adds one of the first places she examines is your ribs, because they protect your diaphragm, one of our largest muscles, and she says that when your diaphragm works well, life is good. She says if your ribs have a twist, a lean, or are pushed forward too far, your diaphragm gets stretched out and can’t do it’s job properly.
