The Knoxville City Council approved the union contract for the coming contract period at this week’s meeting. According to City Manager Dick Schrad, the agreement that was ratified by the union and approved by the council Monday includes a one year contract at a 1.5% increase in classified wages beginning July 1st, 2010 and ending June 30th, 2011. The employees also agreed to pick up 30% of future increases in cost for health care premiums.
