The Pella City Council will adopt the annual wage scale and associated employee benefits at their meeting this week. Council will consider several resolutions, including an overall raise of 2.5 percent, which is tied to the Employment Cost Index published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, which will cost approximately $134,000. Council will also review an agreement with Wellmark for health insurance and Delta Dental for different dental coverage. Council will also review a resolution to annex land adjacent to 218th Avenue from Neil Drive to the Shady Brook subdivision, which includes two consenting property owners and the Pella Soccer Complex. The resolution allows the city to move forward in annexing two non-consenting property owners, which when all are in the corporate limits, would allow council to proceed with a resurfacing of the gravel road. Following regular business, the council will discuss recreational uses of Big Rock Park and a potential extension and expansion of a moratorium on building permits along Oskaloosa Street. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 7:00 this evening in the Pella Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.
