The annual Knoxville High School senior awards and scholarship presentation ceremony was held Wednesday night.

The event was an opportunity to honor soon-to-be graduates receiving special recognition and those who have earned scholarships from the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation and Community Scholarship Foundation.  The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to every Knoxville High School graduate who applies for up to four years of post-secondary education. Financial aid is provided for students attending trade school, working on apprenticeships or associates degrees and for students pursuing a four-year course of study at a college or university. The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation is in its 23rd year and has provided approximately $2.4 million in financial aid to Knoxville High School graduates.

The Knoxville Community Scholarship Foundation is local individuals and businesses who provide scholarships to local students. This year 136 students received scholarships along with 70 second, third, and fourth year college students through many different scholarship categories. The event also honored former Panther Scholarship Foundation President Curt Froyen for his lasting impact on the organization and former students. At the event the Foundation awarded the first Curt Froyen Excellence in Service Scholarship to two different students who spoke at the event.
