ems-training

Dozens of additional people who live and work in Jasper County are now trained to handle medical emergencies thanks to recently completing training through the Jasper County Emergency Management Agency. This past week, Jasper EMA wrapped up another EMT training class and worked with Maytag Pool lifeguards on providing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Every new EMT or person trained in CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed or on using an AED helps strengthen emergency services across Jasper County, according to Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson. He points out many individuals in communities across the county that have been helping in this way are now aging out, or burning out.

“We need to find some new, fresh blood that’s going to help us make a difference and save somebody’s life.”

Between the newly completed EMT class and a Firefighter I class, Robinson says Jasper County EMA has helped train nearly 25 new first responders over the last several months. He appreciates the County Board of Supervisors for continuing to support this training keeping it local, and encourages any organization that wants training to reach out to the Jasper County Emergency Management Agency’s Office.
