A Memorial Day flag raising by the American Legion Baty-Tucker Post 168 will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville on Thursday.
This is an opportunity for veterans, their families, legion members, and members of the community to come together and place flags that line the road of the cemetery in honor of Memorial Day. 250 flags make up the avenue of the flags at Graceland, and the American Legion is always seeking volunteers. The flag raising will start at 7:00 am on Thursday, and flags will be taken down on Tuesday at 3:00 pm. There were 1,400 small flags placed on veterans’ graves at Graceland on Tuesday.
