The Indianola City Council addressed the Chapter 122 amendment named Peddlers, Solicitors and Transient Merchants at their regular meeting Monday. This amendment updates different requirements needed to conduct door-to-door selling in Indianola. Indianola City Manager Jake Meshke says these updates were made factoring in the feedback the city received from residents.

“We had received some feedback from the council on a couple of residents with examples of ways that we could possibly look at improving our ordinance there, and that was something we had done some research in partnership with our legal council on. Ultimately, some of the amendments that were brought forward to the city council last night would go ahead and just make some updates there. Those updates would include some of the licensing requirements, requiring a drivers license or photo ID, adding potential reasons to deny a license, and then adding some time restrictions to that as well. So, really just some clarification pieces.”
