Salaries for the upcoming 2026-2027 Fiscal Year have been set for Jasper County’s elected officials and department heads. The Jasper County Board of Supervisors, during their meeting Tuesday morning, unanimously approved 3% raises for the County Attorney, Auditor, Sheriff, and Treasurer. A 1% increase was granted to new County Recorder Joe Otto, who has been in that office for ten weeks. The County Supervisors themselves will not get a pay increase. Supervisor Brandon Talsma’s vote in support of the higher salaries was made reluctantly.
“I was clear from day one that I was advocating for a zero percent increase for elected officials and department heads both. Now we are sitting here with another resolution in front of us, bumping them all up 3 percent to try and keep the ever-increasing gap between department heads and elected officials from increasing.”
Based on the County Supervisors’ action, the Jasper County Attorney will make $157,853 in the coming fiscal year, the Auditor $100,631, the recorder $98,677, the Sheriff $157,163, the Treasurer $100,631, and each Supervisor $47,000.
