The Knoxville City Council approved the sale of eight new residential lots in the Veterans District at their meeting Monday.
These lots are the result of the city’s extension of Veterans Boulevard in the district. Infrastructure work is now complete for the extension, and paving from Vanderpool Construction is expected to start soon. The extension is a continuation of the ongoing development at the Veterans District and will add utilities to the former laundry building and the eight new residential lots. The city hopes to eventually put the laundry building on the market to be used for a variety of purposes, and the new housing lots will add to the current 36 in the development. The land that the lots are on was recently deeded over from the County. City Manager Heather Ussery says these lots will be different from the current residential lots.
“They are larger in size than the ones that are in phase one. They will allow for a garage in the front rather than in the rear, so some changes there. We already have had some people interested, and so we think these eight lots will go quickly, and we hope to continue to add lots available and continue with the momentum in the Veterans District.”
Each lot will cost $40,000.
