Several emergency crews responded to a house fire in Knoxville Saturday morning.

According to Knoxville Deputy Fire Chief Trenton Bacus, just after 9:00 am the Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire on S 7th Street. When the firefighters arrived they confirmed the fire and saw heavy fire that started in the back of the home and extended up to the second floor and into the attic space. The Knoxville Fire Department worked to get the fire under control and then called Knoxville Township Fire Department and the Indiana Township Fire Department for their first alarm to come in and assist.

The Knoxville Fire Department then called Pella Fire Department and Pleasantville Fire Department to come and assist. The fire took 45 minutes to an hour to get under control. No injuries were reported to any individuals or animals. KNIA/KRLS was on scene at the fire and the home appeared to suffer extensive fire and smoke damage. Bacus says the fire is still under investigation on how it started. Marion County Emergency Management was also on the scene to assist. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for any updates.
