Two sports are active today for Knoxville as girls golf heads to Oskaloosa for an invitational while boys track and field ventures to EBF. Golf has been seeing scores trend down for the last week after much better weather has arrived. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports this is also the part of the season that his team has a lot of 18 hole meets and he says the mental side of golf will be put to the test. For boys track and field, the recent weather has also allowed the Panthers to run better outside, starting with their win last week at the Panther relays. Coach Eric Kellar tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is not concerned about how the season started with weather cancellations. Seeing May loom and the bigger meets is always the focus.
Kellar: “Try to get these kids to understand, you go to a meet and you run 100, 4×100 and long jump, that’s a lot easier than doing 6 150s in practice. We work out so I’m not concerned about it.”
