
Besick Wins Green Jacket, Pella Boys Golfers 2nd at Two-Day Dutch Masters
Pella’s KJ Besick earned a Green Jacket following a tough two-day trek through Bos Landen Golf Course at the Dutch Masters Invitational. He led the Dutch to a team runner-up finish over 36 holes and much colder, windier conditions on Saturday. Pella finished with a team score of 645, 21 strokes behind meet champions North Polk. Besick’s two-day score was 147, with teammate Landon Reynolds also carding a 154. Cole Floden and Anderson Dana had two-day totals of 172.
Pella Doubles Duo Wins Bracket at Home Boys Tennis Invitational
The doubles pairing of Trevin Sutton and Brayden Van Horn were the champions of the Pella Boys Tennis Invitational on Saturday. No team scores were kept in bracket play featuring singles and doubles entries from Boone, Fairfield, Grinnell, and Ottumwa. The Dutch return to action Tuesday vs. Oskaloosa.
Dutch Soccer Teams Swept at Mediacom Stadium by Des Moines Schools
Pella’s boy soccer team found its first two losses of the spring against Des Moines schools at Mediacom Stadium on Saturday. The Dutch fell 3-0 to Roosevelt and 3-1 to Hoover. It was an own-goal that allowed the Roughriders to take an early advantage and not look back in the opening match. Against the Huskies, Pella struck first with an Isaac Vandenberg goal as the ball dropped in the box from a free kick. Hoover wore down the Dutch defense from there. Pella falls to 3-2-2 and is next in action at home on Tuesday against Norwalk.
