
Irving’s Hat Trick Leads Knoxville Girls To Season’s First Win, Boys Tie PCM
A seven goal eruption in the 2nd half by the Knoxville Girls Soccer Squad led by Natalie Irving’s hat trick plus one gave the Panthers their first win of the season over Central Iowa United 8-1. CIU scored first about midway through the 1st half, then Knoxville would respond a few minutes later to tie the match at 1-1 heading into halftime. It was all Knoxville in the second 40:00 as Irving added three more goals along with McKenna Carter, Camryn Willis, Mariah Ripperger and Payton Kearney on a penalty kick to complete the scoring. The boys were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw to PCM on Monday. Brett Watters opened the scoring for the Panthers with 29:11 left in the 1st half and it stayed that way until 6:42 remaining in the match when PCM tied it. Both teams had multiple chances to win the match as Knoxville Goalie Quentin VanderLinden made multiple saves in the final 10:00 of the match. The girls are 1-3-2 on the season and will host Fairfield tonight while the boys and 3-3-1 and travel to Chariton on Friday.
Girls Golf 4th At Pleasantville
The Knoxville Girls Golf Squad finished 4th at the Pleasantville Quad on Monday. The Panthers were six shots out of 2nd place led by Caelie Smith, who finished 4th firing a 46 to lead Knoxville. Abbie Keitges also placed in the top ten with a 9th place finish carding a 52. Iselynn Prevo was 11th with a 53, Khloe French was 20th with a 64, Ayla Williams was 21st with a 66 and Bella Gilbert placed 22nd with a 79. The girls will host Albia and Centerville in a South Central Conference triangular at Pine Knolls Country Club today.
