f-62-bridge-closure-2

A $1.6 million bridge replacement project on Jasper County Highway F-62 East west of Sully is beginning today, according to the Jasper County Secondary Roads Department. United Contractors Incorporated of Johnston is putting in a new bridge over Elk Creek, which has closed County Highway F-62 East between County Highways T-14 and T-22 north of Galesburg. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says the three-mile closure is expected to last throughout the project, which is scheduled to end on November 27th.

“The design is a 201-foot 4-inch by 30-foot 6-inch pretensioned, pre-stressed concrete beam bridge. That’s essentially what we are building there, on a paved Farm to Market route.”

The detour that’s been put in place for this project involves Highway T-22 north to Interstate 80, west to Iowa Highway 14, south to South 60th Avenue East, east to Highway S-74, then south to Highway F-62 East in Reasnor.
