The Simpson softball team won its first round game of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 shutout over the Greenville Panthers. It was a dominating pitching effort from the Simpson Senior Pitcher, Emma LaFave recorded the complete game shutout which included eight strikeouts. The Storm scored a pair of runs in both the second and third innings with Brynn Ortlund’s two-RBI single in the second. In the third, Megan Heidelbauer drove in Ashlyn Steen on an RBI triple off the center field wall. Heidelbuaer was later scored on a sacrifice bunt to give the Storm their fourth and final run of the game. The Storm improved to 35-5 on the year and will face Saint Benedict today. Coverage will begin on 94.3 KNIA at 10:45 a.m. with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
