KNIA/KRLS Radio has been recognized for the first time by the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, earning recognition for coverage in sports. The station received Eric Sevareid Awards, including first place for sports play-by-play against all “medium market” radio stations in six different states, and an award of merit for a sports feature about Pella’s Emmanuel Diers.

The Eric Sevareid Awards are named for the North Dakota-born and University of Minnesota-educated journalist best known for his work as a correspondent for CBS Radio and Television. Each year, the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association presents awards to the best work done by broadcast news operations and journalists working in small, medium and large markets in our six-state region on radio, television and online.

Additionally, KNIA/KRLS was once again recognized by the Iowa Broadcast News Association in several categories, including first place for sports coverage and other recognition for sports play-by-play, breaking news/severe weather coverage, and podcast.
